Tylomelania sp. "Yellow Spot"

Tylomelania sp. “Yellow Spot ” are beautiful aquarium inhabitants. These are our own offspring, which, in contrast to the imported animals that are often offered, have already become accustomed to our local tap water. This strain is pure and is kept separately from other Tylomelania species.

Donation size: Sold animals have a minimum size of 2 cm without any housing damage.

General information on keeping and propagation: Tylomelania originally came from the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia, which is why the animals feel comfortable at temperatures between 24 and 30 °C. Tylomelania constantly graze the aquarium after growth and rasp up root wood, dead plant remains or conventional fish food. Fortunately, healthy plants and calm aquarium residents leave them alone. There is no need to worry about mass reproduction as with other snail species. The animals are of separate sexes, a female animal produces about one further viviparous young animal per month. Some specimens can reach a size of up to 8 cm.
